From September 2004, any Leader or other adult leading a Nights Away event for young people will need to operate under the new Nights Away Scheme.
The Nights Away Permit Scheme replaces the existing County camping certificate.
There is no ‘granddad law’ for those who remember the introduction of the County camping certificate. Holders of County camping certificates should not therefore assume that they will automatically be issued with a Permit, principally because the new Nights Away Scheme only gives authority for an adult to take Members under the age of 18 years on a Nights Away event in one or more of three categories.
The scheme will be managed by Nights Away Advisers who recommend the issuing of a Permit. Royal Eltham have appointed a number of Advisers who are assigned to each of the youth sections. Please direct any queries you have about the scheme to Adrian Tallett.
